ADXC 7: What you can expect from the competition in Rio de Janeiro

November 15, 2024

The time is almost upon us. Coming to Riocentro, in Rio de Janeiro, on November 17th, the seventh edition of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship is nearly ready to bring its signature action back to Brazil. As the fight week brings all the usual attractions while we wait for the show, it’s worth taking a moment to analyze everything that we can expect to see come Sunday.

As it makes its way back to South America, the ADXC is going bigger than ever with its upcoming event. While the ADXC 6 set a record a few weeks ago with 15 fights in one night, the ADXC 7 has promptly broken through and will bring a whopping 17 duels between Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling matches, all broadcast live and exclusively on the TX7.com platform. We have a lot of ground to cover, so fasten your seatbelts, and let’s take a closer look at what the ADXC 7 has in store for this Sunday.

MAIN EVENTS

For starters, the Grappling Main Event brings Rodolfo Vieira and Derek Brunson to face off inside the cage with a light heavyweight bout. One of the most famous fighters on the planet, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA legend Rodolfo Vieira has more than proven his skills as he racked up many victories in both sports, but now he’ll be entering the ADXC cage with his sights set on the organization’s coveted trophy. Of course, to reach his goal he’ll have to go through the American Derek Brunson, a professional mixed martial artist with a decade of experience in competing inside cages, an astounding 24 victories to his name, and an aggressive fighting style that has spelled doom for many talented competitors around the world.

In the Jiu-Jitsu Main Event, Paulo Miyao and Junior Righetti lead a true clash of generations in the featherweight division. On one side, the seasoned veteran Paulo Miyao steps into the cage ready to unleash his fast transitions and the fearsome berimbolo that got him two ADWPJJC titles and many other high-profile titles in the AJP. On the other side, the talented Junior Righetti dons his newly-acquired black belt and brings his aggressive game to the ADXC, armed with his technical prowess and sneaky submissions as he gets ready to face the most challenging opponent of his career just five months after his promotion.

CO-MAIN EVENTS

The Grappling Co-Main Event will feature Piter Frank and Gesias Cavalcante facing each other in the middleweight division. An ADGS medalist with countless titles conquered around the world, Piter Frank brings his particular mix of aggressiveness and technique to make his debut in the ADXC, but he’ll be faced with the experienced Gesias Cavalcante, a powerhouse who put his skills to the test on both Jiu-Jitsu and MMA and as a result, knows his way around grappling inside a cage.

In the Jiu-Jitsu Co-Main Event, Meyram Maquiné and Sebastian Serpa go toe-to-toe with a lightweight bout. An ADWPJJC 2023 champion, Meyram Maquiné currently stands among the best in his weight division and once you see him mix his agility, aggressiveness, and technical know-how to put on a show, it’s easy to understand why. This time, however, he’ll be up against the dangerous Sebastian Serpa, an American black belt who showed just how talented he is as he toppled some of the toughest competitors in the international scene, conquering an ADWPJJC medal and many other accolades to his career.

MAIN CARD

Leading up to the Main and Co-Main Events, the ADXC 7 Main Card is stacked with high-octane duels. In the lightweight division, Ana Carolina Vieira and Aurelie Le Vern face off in a Grappling bout. With titles in the ADWPJJC and ADGS, the Brazilian Ana Carolina Vieira stands as one of the most powerful athletes of her generation, but her opponent is none other than Aurelie Le Vern, a French black belt known for her solid takedown game, pressure passes, and fast submissions.

Moving on, the welterweight division will bring a Jiu-Jitsu bout between Espen Mathiesen and Lucas Valente. A Norwegian athlete with a 2-0 record in the organization, Espen Mathiesen is back in the ADXC looking to use his dangerous guard game to complete his hat trick, but he’ll have to contend with the Brazilian Lucas Valente, another guard player who’ll be ready to use all the tricks he honed competing around the world to seize the trophy for himself.

Bringing another Grappling bout, Antonio Assef and Leonardo Nascimento will put their skills to the test in the heavyweight division. After competing in the first-ever ADXC, Antonio Assef is back inside the cage and ready to use his mix of strength and technique to face Leonardo “Chocolate” Nascimento, a former MMA athlete with 10 wins to his name in the sport and a merciless arsenal of chokes and armbars at his disposal.

Still in the card, Antonio Braga Neto and Marcus Oliveira bring a Jiu-Jitsu bout to the heavyweight division. A Jiu-Jitsu legend with over ten years competing in MMA, Antonio Braga Neto made a name for himself by competing and beating his opponents around the world, but his opponent this time around is none other than Marcus “Castigo” Oliveira, another experienced black belt who boasts an aggressive and well-balanced game, and might just have what it takes to emerge victorious from the ADXC cage.

Opening the Main Card, Henrique Ceconi and Javier Zaruski square off with a Grappling bout in the heavyweight division. Returning to the organization after beating the legendary Roberto Cyborg on ADXC 3, the dangerous Henrique Ceconi is ready to show his skills in his home country for the second time, but the Uruguayan Javier Zaruski has other plans as he brings his collection of chokes and katagatames to score a win in his ADXC debut.

PRELIMINARY CARD AND SHOWCASE

Kicking off the action in the ADXC 7, the Prelims and Showcase will bring a total of eight matches to the Riocentro battlegrounds. In the Preliminary Card, Jessica Caroline and Eliana Carauni go toe-to-toe in a Jiu-Jitsu bout, while Ruan Alvarenga goes up against Mukhammad Shakhbanov in a Grappling bout. Still in the card, Kalim Mastouri faces Ronys Torres in a Jiu-Jitsu bout, Helena Crevar and Sabrina de Sousa clash in a Grappling bout, and Luiz Felipe Santos tests himself against Henrique Russi in a Jiu-Jitsu bout.
